Love is the act of extending ourselves to help others or ourselves become the best they/we can be even if it is inconvenient to us.
Love is helping ourselves or others understand the real potential, the purpose of life and to ignite the passion to live life to the fullest.
A mother feeding her child the best of food is performing an act of love as she is helping the child grow. A father working day and night to send the child to school is performing an act of love as he is helping the child grow. A young man maintaining a disciplined exercise regime is committing an act of love as he is helping himself grow in health. A man patiently listening to his lover when she is confused about life is performing an act of love as he is helping her reach clarity.
Therefore love is not forcing someone else to be the person you want him or her to be. A father forcing a son to follow his own profession, when the child’s passion is elsewhere is not performing an act of love. A mother forcing her daughter to marry a person of their choice when the daughter does not find him compatible is not performing an act of love. A man consuming alcohol and getting temporary satisfaction is not performing an act of love. A man prohibiting his lover from performing on stage to express her talents is not preforming an act of love.
When people act in such selfish ways thinking that they are doing it for the love of the other, they are creating distance, negativity and depression. A true lover is selfless. They will help other to become the best they can be even when it is inconvenient to them, even when it hurts them and even when they have to let go of their own lover.
Valentines day is to remind us of this noble act. Therefore why not let everyday of our life be a valentines day?
Let me wish you lots of love and great strides in becoming the best you can be. Happy Valentines Day, Everyday!
