We are not equal to our past; we are the resources we bring forth. Yes, the past is gone, we need to leave it where it belongs, and however we need to also take the resources from the past to energise our future.
We all started the past year with fresh hope for our families, our teams and ourselves. We planned to make the New Year the most spectacular year of all. Some of us were able to build on success and continuously improve to achieve and even surpass what we set out to achieve. Some others may have started off with great plans and found it fizzle off really fast.
The best we can do is to derive energy from the last year to gear up for a great 2015. This requires us building on the successes and take learning’s from areas that could have been better.
Given below is a few simple steps that can help you to gear up for an amazing 2014.
This can be done individually, as a family or with your team.
Success inventory 2014:
Step 1: List down the 3 biggest successes in 2014
Step 2: Sit in a quiet place and vividly see, hear and feel those successes as in much detail as possible. Re-live it and celebrate it mentally.
Step 3: List down the 3 biggest learning’s from those successes
Step 4: List down the values that lead to those successes
Step 5: List down the beliefs that lead to those successes
Step 6: List down the behaviours that lead to those successes
Step 7: List down the relationships that lead to those successes
This process will help us get energised from the success from the past and make the neurological connections to make the attitudes, beliefs, behaviours and relationships work for us the New Year too.
Failure inventory 2014:
Step 1: List down the 3 biggest failures in 2014
Step 2: Sit in a quiet place and vividly see, hear and feel those failures turning into success by you taking a different course of action as in much detail as possible. Believe it really happened celebrate it mentally.
Step 3: List down the 3 biggest learnings from those failures.
Step 4: List down the values that lead to those failures and the improved values required for success.
Step 5: List down the beliefs that lead to those failures and the improved beliefs required for success.
Step 6: List down the behaviours that lead to the failures and the improved behaviours required for success.
Step 7: List down the relationships that lead to the failures and the improved relationships required for success.
This process will help us to programme our mind to use the resources of 2014 to energise ourselves to create a spectacular 2015.
I will publish another blog on New – Years day with a process to make 2015 the best year of your life so far.
